All about me unit
The "All about Me' unit is a fun way to get to know each kid in your classroom. I would suggest doing this unit first, at the beginning of the year. This is a fun activity that you can do with your class to help introduce the all about me unit. I would send home and have the families do with the children and then have them return them to class and discuss which favorite belongs to which kid. After the discussion, you can then add them to the classroom by hanging them up with a possible photo of the child. I think this would be a fun way to add the families to help and involve our community by interacting with them and creating a project together. All you need is to print and download this activity and the send it home with each of the parents. I would also maybe make "All about Me" posters and you could add this to them so they stand out in the classroom. This would be a wonderful way for you to get to know each of the children in the classroom.
