At Christian Family Day Care & Preschool in Moreno Valley, California, they did a number of fun and educational classroom activities related to the stellar book, “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.” Below are examples of what they did which can serve as an inspiration for you to make your own fun activities or lesson plans!
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Craft
For this activity students are given a coconut tree and then are able to glue or tape the letters of their name on it as those letters, “Climb,” the tree just like the letters in the book!
Chicka, Chicka Boom Boom! Can it be…
My name is on the coconut tree!
This worksheet has a variety of letters trapped in coconuts. Students color the appropriate letters in to form the words listed at the bottom of the sheet.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Crown
Students love to wear hats and crowns. For this activity they get to color their own crown that says, “Chicka, Chicka Hooray! I had an awesome day!“
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Snacks
Help students make their own coconut tree out of snacks that are NOT part of a coconut tree, but with some clever positioning can look like one! Give students pretzels (for the trunk), apple slices (for the leaves), and raisins (to be the coconuts). Now they can make their own coconut trees and then eat their tasty snack.
