Christmas Lights. Decorating the House With Lights Using Q-tips
After seeing some lights displayed the night before this simple invitation was set to decorate a house with lights using paint, glitter and q-tips. The image of the house was sourced from a free colouring page website and printed onto cardstock for durability. There is a wide variety and sizes of houses available to source images from. You could do this same activity decorating an image of a christmas tree with lights.
This was also a great activity for working tripod grip and fine motor skills used in writing. There was a lot of discussion about the lights he liked most and why he was doing the patterns he was - these discussions could lead into a wonderful journal writing page activity.
This was our finished result, now proudly up on our art display wall. Using the glitter afterwards made more of a mess than expected so I recommend adding into the paint prior to setting up the invitation depending on the childrens ages.
