Eat the Rainbow
Eat the rainbow!
Have students to be more open to try new vegetables and fruits? Or maybe just even have them reflect on replacing less favorite food with some new options. Work on "Eat the Rainbow". Students will sort vegetables and fruits according to their color then we will write the benefits of each color. We use a rainbow worksheets to make it visually appealing.
We decided to add the information in our board as well so we can add more fruits and vegetables as the lesson goes.
Then we research some of the vitamins and minerals we can find (more often) in each color and we add it to the rainbow board.
It is important to remind them that brown and white go into the same category.
I am planning to continue this lesson by creating our own plate, reminding them to have the 5 colors everyday. We will work on portions using our hand.
