Fun Classroom Activity for Practicing Flossing
At the First Baptist Child Development Center, the children did a fun activity where they practiced flossing by using building blocks, string, and Play-Doh. It was fun and helped illustrate to everyone why flossing is an important action to do as the Play-Doh was removed by the string/floss.
Materials needed for this activity
To do this activity with your students you will need the following:
*Large plastic building blocks
*String/yarn/etc.
*Play-Doh
How to do this activity
To do this activity with your students you can follow these steps:
1. Take your Play-Doh and stick it in the crevices of the plastic building blocks.
2. Grab your string and while using both hands, run it through the cracks of the Play-Doh.
3. Watch how the string helps get the Play-Doh out of the crevices. Discuss how dental floss does the same thing with food particles and other debris in our teeth.
