Learning About Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, and Helium with Balloons

They got educated all about balloon animals at Nativity Early Learning Center! A balloon artist came and created balloon animals, balloon wands, and balloon bracelets. The kids learned all about how oxygen and carbon dioxide results in balloons filled with air that don't fly up, but if you put helium in a balloon it makes it keep floating upwards because helium is lighter than air!

Different types of elements

Helium, carbon dioxide, and oxygen are all different elements. Because helium has fewer protons and neutrons than the others that makes it float--hence balloons filled with go up into the sky if you let go of them! We can't see elements with our eyes, but they make up everything in our Universe. Playing with balloons is such a fun way to learn about a complex concept!
