Making Pumpkin Volcanoes out of Leftover Pumpkins

If you have leftover pumpkins from the Halloween holiday you can do this fun activity known as a pumpkin volcano with them! At Kiddie Academy of Johns Creek, they created these pumpkin volcanoes and loved watching the foam ooze out!

How the pumpkin volcanoes were made

The kids made pumpkin volcanoes by taking their older pumpkins that had already been cut-up into jack o' lanterns and popping-off their tops. Then, they poured in baking soda. After that, they poured some vinegar in and it caused a chemical reaction that made everything foamy! The foam oozed out of the pumpkins' faces and holes, making an impressive-looking result that was also a bit messy. Once the pumpkins were done being made into volcanoes they could be disposed of!
