Rooms in a house+ furniture and There is/ there are

Hello everyone,
I am a Chilean teacher of English. I work in three different schools. Some years ago, I was working in a school in a rural area. With my students from the EFL class we were learning the unit " The place where I live " The activity was that my students made a house model where they labeled the rooms and furniture. Then they expressed orally the names of the furniture using the words "There is" and "There are" to start sentences.
We used recycled materials to make the house model. Some materials were
- a box of shoes
- rests of colored glossy paper
- boxes of different medicine or pills
- toilet paper tubes
- bottle caps
- rests of paperboard
- scissors
- glue
- colored pencils
(your students can use any recycled material)
My students loved the activity because it was a very fun and different way of learning.
Hope you like it!
