Sponge Ball Splat Painting ActivityAt Little Miracles Preschool they did a fun outdoor Summer activity that makes some messy and beautiful art! They used sponge balls for a, "Splat," painting activity!

Materials Needed for Sponge Ball Splat Painting

To do your own sponge ball splat painting you will need the following:

  • Sponge Balls (sponge balls are made by cutting-up kitchen sponges and tying them tightly together or can be bought at stores)
  • A plastic Tupperware container
  • Assorted paints (tempera or acrylic work well)
  • Tape
  • A big piece of paper
  • A wall you don't mind getting messy (outdoors is best)

How to Do Sponge Ball Splat Painting

To do some sponge ball splat painting follow these steps:

  1. Take your big piece of paper and tape it to the wall you don't mind getting messy.
  2. Squirt a variety of paint colors into your Tupperware container, but don't mix them, just have various colors in there.
  3. Take your sponge ball and dip it in the paint, get various colors all over the sponge ball.
  4. Throw the sponge ball at the piece of paper taped to the wall and watch as it goes, "Spalt," and leaves behind colorful paint! You can keep getting it covered in paint and throwing it. If you miss, it's okay, just keep trying!
  5. Once you are done painting the paper with the sponge balls you threw at it, let the paint dry and then take the paper down and display your unique art creation!
