Abstract art is a kind of art which often does not look realistic, but is representative of the World via shapes, colors, forms, and interesting textures.
With this in mind Kids on Track Preschool in Dracut, Massachusetts did their own abstract painting with their students which was very simple and focused on color-mixing and the sensory feelings of touching painting, squishing it around, and otherwise having fun!
How You Can Make an Abstract Painting
The whole point of abstract art is that it is about expressing feelings and thoughts through symbolism so encourage students to experiment with their paint via mixing colors together and creating fun shapes and lines of paint.
You can supply your students with tools to help them mix the paint further in unique ways such as spatulas, rolling-pins, and anything else that can assist with having fun with the paint!
You can thicken the paint with flour or cornstarch to make it even more spreadable and reduce any chance of a mess!
