Community Helpers
We are doing a 4 week unit on community in my pre-k classroom. The first week was 'Places in our Community.' The second week was 'People in our Community,' and this week is 'How Can We Help Our Community?' We have done many activities throughout this unit. One of the activities that I am most proud of is where the students used a laminated worksheet that had construction hats with a domino on each construction hat. The students would count the amount of dots on one side of the domino, then use colored counting cubes to build a tower that was equal to the amount of dots on that side of the domino. They would then do the same thing with the other side of the domino except with a different color. After both towers were constructed for that domino, the students would count how many counting cubes they had all together for that one domino.
