Messy Play: Building blocks with Oats
It is so fun to use oats to stick the blocks together.
Materials Needed
Oats: Quick-cooking oats work best.
Water: To mix with the oats.
Blocks: Wooden or foam blocks for building.
Bowls: For mixing the oats and water.
Instructions
Prepare the Oat Mixture:
In a bowl, mix equal parts oats and water until it forms a thick paste.
Spread the oat paste on the sides of the blocks you want to stick together.
Tips
- Encourage kids to be creative with their designs.
- After finishing, you can even discuss the science behind how oats can act as a natural adhesive!
- This activity not only fosters creativity but also teaches elementary principles of bonding and construction.
