Messy Play: Building blocks with Oats

It is so fun to use oats to stick the blocks together.

Materials Needed

Oats: Quick-cooking oats work best.

Water: To mix with the oats.

Blocks: Wooden or foam blocks for building.

Bowls: For mixing the oats and water.

Instructions

Prepare the Oat Mixture:

In a bowl, mix equal parts oats and water until it forms a thick paste.

Spread the oat paste on the sides of the blocks you want to stick together.

Tips

- Encourage kids to be creative with their designs.

- After finishing, you can even discuss the science behind how oats can act as a natural adhesive!

- This activity not only fosters creativity but also teaches elementary principles of bonding and construction.
