Paper Plate Drum
A musical instrument can easily made for the classroom with a paper plate, some masking tape, and noise making materials like buttons, gems, bells, and bottle caps. To make the instrument all you need to do is use making tape to tape two paper plates together. Between the two paper plates is where you would insert the noise making materials to have the instrument make sound (buttons, gems, bells, bottle caps, etc.) Our preschool aged children really enjoyed making this instrument! Crayons, markers, and paint can be used to decorate the outside of the instrument. The children enjoyed using the instrument like a drum and tambourine. This instrument craft is great to help strengthen children’s fine motor skills while they make the instrument as well as strengthen their gross motor skills while playing the instrument.
