At Merryhill School they used Popsicle sticks and egg cartons with colors on their tips to practice color-sorting and the student's fine motor skills.
How To Make Your Own
You will need an egg carton, Popsicle sticks, a thin knife, and markers.
Color the tips of the egg cartons different colors and color the tips of a Popsicle stick that matches each egg carton tip (color both sides of the Popsicle sticks so that students can be sure they know they match them correctly).
Use a thin knife to cut a hole in each egg carton tip so that the matching Popsicle sticks can easily slide-in.
Demonstrate to students how they take the Popsicle sticks and slide the colors that match the egg carton's colors into the holes for the color sorting activity.
You can make this a fun game by having multiple egg cartons and Popsicle sticks then having students race to see who can sort their egg cartons and Popsicle sticks the quickest.
