Spring is a fantastic time to discuss flowers and plants. Painting with flowers is a great way to engage preschoolers
Yes, that’s really it. First, put a puddle of a single color of paint on some of the paper plates. You can put lots of colors or all from just one color family.
Next, cut the flowers so that only a small part of the stem is glued as a handle. Too much stem is difficult to use and makes the flowers fall, while too little will cause them to fall apart. A couple of inches should be plenty. Dip the flower in the paint.
Some kids may need a demonstration on how to use these new interesting "brushes". There is no wrong way to paint with flowers!
It is important to encourage creativity at this age. The art of the process is just that – enjoying the process itself, with a finished product that's a nice bonus at the end. Display the beautiful works of your class while painting with flowers, or offer them as a gift to their parents!
