Using water colors for our Phonics lesson

We used how two colors can make one brand new color and compared that to digraphs when teaching phonics. Two letters sounds when brought together make one brand new sound.Students explored how colors when put together can make a brand new color. We compared that to our letter sounds / digraphs. /ch/ /sh/ /ph/ /th/ / wh/.We used

Yellow and Blue = Green

Red and Blue = Purple

Black and White= Gray

Red and Yellow= Orange

Brown and White = Tan

The kids loved learning about the new sounds and incorporating art was such a bonus. This is an activity that will really make a mark and students will definitely retain the ideas. A great opportunity to teach a new skill.
