Stockings Craft Activity

In the famous poem, "Twas the Night Before Christmas," there is the line about how all of the stockings were hung, "By the chimney with care." This craft activity is a wonderful way to have students make their own stockings! At Animal House Preschool in Medford, Oregon it was very popular with all the students, as the pictures show.

Materials Needed to Make the Craft

Construction paper shaped like a stocking in advance
Tempera paint
Paintbrushes
Ribbon
Cotton balls
Paper Snowflakes
Glue

How to do the Stocking Craft Activity

Being by taking a piece of construction paper shaped like a stocking.

Paint it whatever colors you would like, for a Christmas theme you can do red and green!

Wait for the paint to dry.

Once the paint is dry glue on ribbons, cotton balls, and paper snowflakes wherever you would like. If you put the cotton balls more towards the top of the stocking like the students did at Animal House Preschool it'll look fuzzy just at the top, but you can do whatever you'd like.

Hang-up your stocking with pride (by a fireplace if you have one available) and enjoy admiring it!
