Supermarket Game For Vocabulary
Hi! I'm a speech-language pathologist, and this is how I train clients with limited expressive vocabulary:
Step 1: Spread the cards on the table
Step 2: Say an item on the shopping list
Step 3: Grab the item
Step 4: Whoever grabs the item first can put it into his or her cart
All my clients enjoyed it a lot. You can also train sentences like "Put ___ in. " for clients who have grasped simple sentence structures.
Here's another way to play the game:
Step 1: Flip all the cards on the table
Step 2: Say an item on the shopping list
Step 3: Observe the colour of the item as shown on the shopping list
Step 4: Take turn to flip the item
Step 5: Whoever finds the item first can put it into his or her cart
This way is more suitable for clients with slow response. See which way suits your clients more!
