Symmetrical Painting Activity for Preschool Students

At Little Acorn Patch At Kingstowne in Alexandria, Virginia the class did this craft themed for Valentine's Day which helps students learn about symmetry by creating a symmetrical painting.

It was created by co-teacher Courtney Sykes and involves making a Valentine's Day card for a loved one!

I Love You, "Beary," Much!

We often tell people how we love them a lot, but by adding a bear to this craft is makes it a fun pun with students able to tell teachers, "I Love You Beary Much." The craft is done by taking a large heart-shaped piece of paper. Then on one side students use brown paint to create one side of their bear's face. Then they push the sides together and reopen them to see how now the paint is symmetrical upon both sides!

After that step, the students glue on more construction paper for the rest of the bear's face and use a permanent marker to draw its nose and smile! The students can then use the permanent marker to write the rest of their message about how much they love someone! It was a fun craft that teaches a lot about symmetry!
