Taking care of my heart

Taking care of my heart

February is the month that I do lesson plans for my kindergarten class. My theme is called "Taking Care of My Heart" In the first two weeks of school in February I like to give an introduction to ways to live a healthy lifestyle. I like to incorporate eight principles of healthy living which include: getting enough sleep, spending time in the fresh air, being out in the sunshine, getting daily exercise, eating good food, being happy and positive, drinking enough water, and having God in your life. Then, I like to introduce different health professionals and learn about their job such as a doctor, nurse, and dentist as well as other professionals in the medical field. Finally, I introduce several common organs or systems of the body. I like the crafts and activities to be hands on so my students will learn about the brain, heart, lungs, stomach, and skin. I would like to end my unit with a project where the students can color, glue, and paste the organs inside a body template for a final wrap up!
