Turkey-Themed Name Activity

At JUMP Preschool Inc. and Kindergarten in Spring Valley, California they did a fun turkey-themed name activity!

Students spelled-out the letters of their name in the form of the colorful feathers of a turkey. Each feather represented a letter of the student's name and it was a great way to prepare for the upcoming holiday of Thanksgiving!

Materials Needed to Make You Own Turkey

To make your own turkey you simply need:

  • Brown, Orange, Red, and Yellow construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • A Marker

How to Make Your Own Turkey

First you need to cut-out the needed shapes. You will want to take a piece of brown construction paper and cut a big circle with a small piece poking-out with a smaller circle to start with as this is the turkey's body, neck, and head. After that cut the rest of the papers into the shapes of feathers so that you can ones that a red, orange, yellow, and brown.

Count-out how many feathers you need to spell the letters of your name (for example someone with the name Chelsea would need seven feathers).

Glue the feathers in whatever color order you like onto your turkey's body.

Write a letter from your name on each feather of the turkey with a marker (in order) until you've spelled your name.

Your turkey is done!
