C for crocodile
In this activity we worked with the letter C in 3 ways. First we looked at the letter see as show in the first picture and compared the difference between capital and lowercase. Then we drew a crocodile according the the size of each letter, I did this by hand and guiding the student through a conversation about it. The conversation may sound someyhing like this: T: “C is for C C Crocodile, should I draw a big one for the capital C?” S: “yes! Big Crocodile” T: “ all done, can you say c,c, crocodile?” s: “c c crocodile, now small one too”
Next I drew a scene that showed crocs like ground and water, introduced the word amphibians and asked the student for suggestions for what else to draw around it, in this case the student wanted an ocean theme which I succumbed too though crocs don’t live there! That will be a lesson for another day.
Last, the student filled in a letter C with green paper to provide a hands of activity that let him travel through the shape of the letter.
