Cooking Activity in the Classroom: Chocolate Chip Cookies
For our first cooking activity we made Chocolate Chip Cookies.
This is a young group and for some the first time they've got to cook with us. They were so excited to get to help!
They learned to level off the sugar and flour when they measured it.
They learned that measuring brown sugar is like making a sand castle.
Everybody got to practice cracking an egg.
After everyone helped run the mixer and they each got to scoop out the dough into balls.
While the cookies baked they colored their recipe sheet to take home.
We enjoyed the cookies along with fresh pears and milk for snack.
I almost forgot- each "chef" chose an apron to wear. (I didn't get pictures of them in their aprons before we started). The plan is to get their names put on the aprons with iron on vinyl.
