Crafting Faces With Toddlers: A Peek Into Our Creative Morning
Today’s activity turned into one of the sweetest and most colorful moments of the week! Our toddlers dove into a hands-on art project where they created their own faces using a mix of fun, tactile materials. With a table full of yarn, buttons, beads, and soft leaf shapes, the kids had everything they needed to bring their imaginations to life.
Each child started with a simple paper circle as the base of a face. From there, creativity took over! Yarn quickly became hair in all sorts of styles, buttons turned into expressive eyes, and colorful little pieces were transformed into noses, cheeks, and decorations. It was wonderful watching how focused they became—carefully choosing each item and deciding where it should go.
Activities like this are so much more than just craft time. They help kids practice fine motor skills, explore textures, and learn about facial features and expressions. And, of course, it gives them a chance to express themselves in the most adorable ways. The concentration on their faces as they worked said it all!
The bright, cheerful environment around them made the experience even more inviting. With colorful storage bins, a cozy workspace, and materials within easy reach, the room buzzed with creativity.
By the end of the session, we had a table full of unique, charming little faces—each one as different and special as the child who made it. It’s always amazing to see what little hands and big imaginations can create.
