elephant mask (preschool and kindergarten)
my name is rachel berman. i teach preschool, three yr olds. we were learning about zoos and zookeepers, so each day we made an animal mask or puppet.
my dilemma was that when painting our adorable elephant, the paint would cover the details of the features of the elephant, such as his trunk. we solved this by mixing a very small amount of black paint and a large amount of white paint. the result was the perfect gray for our pachyderm friend, and all his features remained intact! we had a real zoo of a week and the culmination was that all the children participated in our own little zoo. some were zookeepers and some were the resident animals.
