Learning in the Classroom!
We love learning about arrays! In this activity students had a collection of counters and were tasked in creating different arrays as we learned about multiplication.
This student used counters, but some students used different objects such a toy cars.
Multiplication can be represented by groups and size of groups, or rows and columns. Students practiced labeling which were the columns (up and down) and which were the rows, (side to side).
I would repeat this activity because students stretched their understanding of multiplication by creating a representation of the equation as an array using objects.
