Magic flowers…… watch the magic flower bloom right before your eye
Hi I am an early child hood educator and love sharing ideas I find with other educators,I thought this could be useful for pre kindergarten + age groups.
I recently made flowers that open up when folded and placed in water my 3-4 yr olds absolutely loved it.
You need a basic flower shape 4-6 petals ,preferably rounded petal shape, cut close to the centre of the flower shape so the petals are individual. Allow the children to decorate their flower using pencils or crayons. Then fold each petal individually into the centre so they lay over each other, use a shallow tray with 2inchs of water in it place the folded flower into the water petals folded over side up and watch the magic the petal will open slowly. Enjoy
As a follow on we are going to see if we can make basic four wing butterflies and see if they open there wings the same as the flower.
This activity is a great introduction into STEM learning.
