Mickey Mouse craft
The theme of my kindergarten classroom this year is Mickey Mouse. I call my students "Mouseketeers." We made a simple Mickey Mouse craft at the beginning of the school year. The shape of the circles for Mickey's body, ears, and pants buttons were already drawn on to the colored construction paper for the students to cut out. This activity allowed me to discuss circles since the craft was mainly made up of circles. It also helped me to observe their cutting skills for the first time. I could also see who had used a glue stick before and understood how to move the glue up and how much glue to use. I could watch to see which students could find a white crayon and write their name on the back of the craft. This was the first time that we did a craft together in kindergarten. This was an easy craft for me to observe if the students were able to listen and follow directions.
