National walk your dog month - wash the dog activity
s it was national walk your dog month this month (January, I decided to set up a few activities for the little ones which was fun and also teaches the children that looking after a pet comes with some responsibilities. The activity was perfect for sensory too as the children got to feel the texture of the soil, bubbles, water and plastic toy dogs.
I dug up some soil which I got from my back garden and placed this into a tray where I placed all the plastic toy dogs into it and made it messy. Then I set up another bowl with water and a little washing up liquid.
The idea is that the children would wash each dog in the bowl of water and dry it with a clean tea towel.
The children had so much fun cleaning the dogs. They ended up splashing around and was soaked but they had fun and was giggling away happily.
It was good for one of the little ones speech development as he started to say dog.
