Pictures and songs
I teach in a non-verbal classroom with students that are 3-5 years old. It helps them to have pictures to represent the animals when singing. The students can come up one at a time as well do each animal to attach to the board. This helps them stay engaged with the song. I used Lesson Pix to print off the animals, farmer and barn. I then laminated them and used a poster board to put them on. I use this several times a year and the students love it. I also have done many other songs or stories using pictures for the students. (Five Monkeys Jumping on the Bed, Five Little Ducks, Five Green Speckled Frogs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Napping House, and The Coat I Wear in the Snow and many others. I then put all the pictures into a baggie and attach it to my poster board for quick access in the future. The children love to hold the picture until we get to the part where they have to put it on the board. Holding the picture tends to keep them still and waiting for their turn.
