practical learning in a fun way
This activity really helped children learn about shapes in everyday lives. They associated items with different basic shapes. They asked what and why questions and we extended this game by actually finding objects around the classroom that matched with the basic shapes. When children do things hands on, they use their critical thinking, problem solving skills and develop advanced cognitive skills through similar activities. These help children develop spatial knowledge, knowledge of geometry and math in an indirect way. This neat activity helped me engage my preschoolers for a solid 25 minutes and they also developed social skills as they worked together as a team to sort these cards and solve the problem.
