Safari for PreK Classroom, summer 2018
I planned a safari for the children of my PreK classroom. They made their own safari hats from Dixie brand plates and bowls and added some greenery. They also made binoculars from some heavy duty paper towel rolls and added some animal print paper. I provided a checklist of animals for them to look for. I hung magazine photos on the trees and fences on the way to the playground. Photos were also hung on trees bordering the playground. I made animal print name tags for them as well.
The activity was a huge success, the children loved doing this activity that we extended it to the next week. I added family engagement by sending home a notice for the children to bring their hat and binoculars to the zoo, asking parents to take photos and put them on our facebook page. I since am working at a different school and the children loved this activity as well, although the playground is not as jungle-like.
