The Very Busy Spider
Color Recognition/Sorting and Lacing Activity
Materials:
For the Spider
1 Black Pompom ball (3cm dia)
1 pc black fuzzy wire/pipe cleaner
6 pcs pipe cleaner (different colors, we used primary and secondary colors)
18 pcs beads - holes must fit the pipe cleaner (6 different colors, 3pcs each or more)
A pair of wiggly eyes
For the Web:
1 paper plate
Yarn
How to make the spider:
1. Wrap around the black fuzzy wire onto the pompom ball.
2. Attach the other fuzzy wires to the black fuzzy wire. Length must fit all the beads that must be inserted.
3. Use double adhesive tape to attach the googly eyes.
Better to do the activity before starting reading the book so the kids can hold on to the spider and role play through the story.
How to make the web:
I used a paper plate for the web's frame. Removed the center and punch some holes around it.
You can wrap an adhesive tape on the tip of the yarn, it will serve as the 'needle'
After reading the book, make the spider's web.
