Back to school dramatic play - School Bus
I started out the school year with a school bus in my dramatic play area of the classroom.
To make it, I used a student desk covered with yellow bulletin board paper, two red disposable plates as lights and paper accents as the grill. I used an old covid divider as a windshield and taped on some black paper windshield wipers. The steering wheel was made with duct tape and cardboard, and if you zoom in, you can see the stop sign attached to a ruler that the driver can hold out to stop traffic while the bus loads.
The side wall of the bus is a felt board I had in my room that I wrapped in a yellow tablecloth from the dollar store. On the back wall of the bus, I added two more plates, labels, and a sort of red and green choices of bus behaviors. Add in some stools for seats, an empty backpack and some stuffies, and you've got what you need to make a classroom school bus.
We read Don't let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, and The Pigeon HAS to go to school to tie into read alouds, along with lanyards with the bus driver's picture and the pigeon's picture in case the kids decide to let the pigeon drive the bus after all!
