I’m the lead teacher for our Mother’s Morning Out program at Cornerstone Church in Maiden, NC. We spent the week studying community helpers, what they do, and why they are important to us! At the end of the week we had volunteers from the fire department, police department, and the post office visit our preschool with their community transportation vehicle! The kids were allowed to explore all three to their fullest extent, including the lights and alarm buttons at their desire, while the community helpers explained what everything was and when they were used, and why! They also had gift bag handouts for each child! The children were allowed to ask questions, move about the vehicles and fully explore all aspects of what each community helpers had to use at their disposal, which prompted the children to ask more specific questions regarding their area of work!
