Shape Sorting with Painter's Tape

For one of our shapes lessons, my 2yo class sorted shapes into categories of circles, squares, and triangles. I gathered various toys in the specified shapes and gave a few to each student to sort into the shapes that I had made out of painter's tape on the floor of my classroom. The students seemed to really have fun with it. They were all engaged for the majority of the activity. Most of them also did fairly well actually sorting the shapes, with minimal help from me. It was easy setup, considering that I used toys that were already available in my classroom, and it was also mess free and easy to clean up--just take up the tape and put away the toys!
