Antarctica-Themed Leopard Seal Craft Activity
At Animal House Preschool in Medford, Oregon they have had a theme of, "Explore the World."
As part of this theme, the class has been discussing different continents and interesting facts about them. The first continent to be covered was Antarctica. The students learned all about penguins as well as leopard seals. After discussing these animals the class then collaborated on making a life-size leopard seal out of construction paper and markers. Once the craft was complete it was mounted upon the wall for everyone to admire as it looked so great!
How the Leopard Seal Craft Activity Was Done
The class began by laying-out a large piece of construction paper. Then, with the assistance of the classroom teacher, the body of a leopard seal was outlined. After that step was done the students put many spots within the outline so that it looked just like an actual leopard seal. Once the children were done everyone carefully cut out the outline out, at which point it was mounted on the wall!
It was a fun way to learn about leopard seals and do a collaborative art activity.
