CANDY CANES! Made of paper. Super easy and fun for K-3
Supplies:
felts or crayons
lined paper
tape
First, colour green and red stripes on a piece of paper. Students sometimes like to use other colours as well. Three holed lined paper works well, but make sure you cut off the holes.
Second, have students roll the paper with a pencil. Make sure the colours face out. I usually have them roll on a diagonal, so the stripes look like they swirl around.
Next, have the students secure the edge with tape. Just use a small piece of tape. Some students need help. The pencil should slip out of the tube fairly easily.
Finally, curl the top over to make it look like a candy cane.
My students love this, and they are making several for friends, family, and other staff members. They can be hung on trees or anywhere in the classroom. They are festive and easy. Students are independent, focused, and happy to create these.
Enjoy making them. It can also be a good buddy craft.
