Create a Knuffle Bunny
Based on the book Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale by Mo Willems. Students should choose the colors, size and placement of the parts of their bunny. As most of the students did not have cutting skills and were in a half day program, the pieces were precut. We did this activity in small groups. The parts of the knuffle bunny were placed in trays on the tables. The directions were simple, find a head and a body. Lets glue them together. Can you find two arms? You can glue them on. Now the arms need pads (show them the picture from the book). Continue through all of the parts of the knuffle bunny. Don't forget to ask them what part is next. The washing machine was made from materials from the dollar store. The materials needed are floral wreath, zip ties, ribbon, clear mat (or cellophane) and velcro dots. The children loved "losing" their Knuffle Bunny in the wash.
