A sensory bin/tub/box is a universal and educational toy for kindergarten children.
It can be simply a container, filled with sand, cereal, toys and other materials. Its main purpose is to give children a sensory experience of touching, researching, exploring and learning. This interactive toy can evoke the child's imagination and curiosity, and help him with concentration.
Sensory Bin - Farm Animals
You will need:
Different cereal (you can use rice, buckwheat or dry peas)
salty dough
a medium or larger container
different farm animal figurines
The recipe to make the salty dough:
1/4 cup of water
1/2 cup of fine salt
2 tablespoons of cocoa
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
1-2 tablespoons of flour
Mix all the ingredients together into a dough. The cocoa will give the dough a nice brown color. For more dough, just double or triple the ingredients.
You can place the prepared dough in a corner of your container, as will serve as "land" for your farm animals. Some plastic trees and a fence can be added.
The rest of the container needs to be filled with different cereal, that we prepared before. You can arrange them in random order. After the "land" is finished, you can add your farm animal figurines.
Use your imagination when building this sensory box, making it more interactive.
