Fine motor initial letter
All about me
When the children are introduced to a topic about themselves, teach the children to recognise their name for self registration.
Once the children can recognise their name complete an adult led activity to collage their initial letter.
Use cardboard to draw an outline of each child's initial letter for their first name.
Give the children a range of coloured cotton, wool and thread to wrap around the letter to create a collage of their letter for their name.
This activity develops fine motor skills and literacy as they learn the sound that their name begins with.
Model the activity by wrapping it up and over the letter. Once the letter is covered add a piece of cellotape to secure it.
