Fruity Pebbles Fall Trees Activity
When it comes to learning about cool and warm colors, the first grade students at Durand Elementary's Art classroom (in Durand, Illinois) had a fun and delicious time!
First they learned about warm colors (red, yellow, orange) and cool colors (blue, green and purple/violet). It was discussed how Fall trees have, "Warm," colors and then the activity began.
How The Fall Tree Activity Was Done
Once the students had made it apparent they understood the difference between warm and cool colors they were given a sheet of paper with a bare tree, glue, and a bowl of Fruity Pebbles cereal. They glued only warm colors onto their tree and then were told to only eat the cool-colored Fruit Pebbles.
The students made beautiful Fall trees out of the warm-colored Fruity Pebbles and had a great time eating the cool-colored cereal pieces. The end result was a gorgeous craft and full tummies from a tasty snack!
