Construction Paper Autumn Maple Leaf Trees - Kindergarten Craft

Autumn is the perfect time of year. There are so many bright and beautiful colors to be seen. Leaves are turning shades of orange, gold, and yellow. It is impossible to not think of the trees when it comes to Autumn.

As a kindergarten teacher, I am excited at the amount of crafts I can create with my students. This craft, in particular, is absolutely adorable and perfect to hang up around my classroom or bulletin boards.

Materials:

  • Cardboard for the base
  • glue sticks
  • blue construction paper
  • brown construction paper or brown paper bags
  • multi-colored maple leaves made by a figured hole punch from colored paper.

Paper Autumn Trees

Steps:

  1. To create the base of your craft, measure the blue construction paper to fit the piece of cardboard. (You can also have this done ahead of time and create a pattern for your students to cut.) Glue the paper to the cardboard.
  2. Rip the construction paper into one large piece for the trunk. Using the same piece, rip two pieces from the trunk to create the branches. Do not rip them completely off. Keep them attached to the larger piece.
  3. Twist the brown construction paper to create a texture. Glue these pieces in place.
  4. Decorate with maple leaves of different colors.
  5. The leaves can be placed in the tree and/or on the ground. Let your students be creative when placing the leaves on their crafts.

This craft is a great idea for a center.

It is a short Autumn project that takes about ten minutes.
