Growing cress heads
In the spring term we explored growing
The children used yoghurt pots and containers to grow cress
They then decorated the box with happy faces. Some children transferred the cress into a sock. Then cress was the persons hair which the children found funny.
the children watered the cress and watched it grow. We talked about how it changed and how the colours changed.
The children were taught the scientific vocabulary to meet the UW statement about growing- we introduced seed, bulb, stem, leaf, growth, water, food, sunlight, dark, heat, warmth, nutrients
The children took the cress home and photos were added to learning journeys.
