"I Have a Dream," Activities for Preschoolers
At Wiz Kids Center in Brooklyn, New York, the class did two activities relating to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his famous, "I have a dream," speech.
The students were taught about diversity with a science experiment and then made their own cloud with a rainbow about their dreams for the future.
Diversity-Themed Science Experiment
This science experiment used eggs to represent people and display how even if we have differently-colored skin on the outside how we are all the same on the inside. The students had worksheets where they drew how they had both white eggs and brown eggs. Then the eggs were cracked into glasses and the students observed how even though the eggs were different colors they both were the same inside--just like how people can have different colors outside but all be the same on the inside!

"I Have a Dream," Craft
This craft activity had students use construction paper and markers. they wrote on a white cloud how they had a dream too like MLK and then with the rainbows coming out of the cloud they noted down their dreams for the future. It was a very thoughtful and sweet activity!
