Learning About Voting for Preschool Students
Voting can be a complex concept for little ones to understand. At Primrose School of Woodstock East, they worked to educate the preschool students by doing a fun voting-themed activity! The children could vote which puppet mascot the school has they liked more--Percy or Mia--and learned how voting means everyone casts a ballot and then these votes are counted and a winner is declared!
Voting for Mia
Mia was a mouse and if kids voted for her they would get a snack of cheese and crackers as well--a snack a mouse would love! Kids who wanted to vote for mia took her ballot, marked it, and put it in the ballot box!
Voting for Percy
Percy was a parrot and if kids voted for him they would get trail mix as their snack. To vote for Percy the process was the same as Mia--kids took a ballot (although this one had Percy on it, marked it, and put it in the ballot box!
The voting process can be fun!
The kids had a lovely time voting, and they learned that even if their choice didn't win, it was important to take part in the voting process. Plus, regardless of who won a tasty snack was enjoyed by all the preschoolers!
