We studied pictures of the human skeleton and then made skeletons with mini marshmallows as joints connecting uncooked pieces of spaghetti for the bones. Then we labeled a diagram of the skeleton. Some students wrote the labels, and some matched with labels I had premade. It was fun to make the skeletons and problem solve how to make different parts of the body, like the ribs. The students enjoyed the activity and learned more about how all the bones fit together in the body and connect to joints so we can move around. We imagined not having movable joints and walked around stiffly without moving our elbows or knees.
