FERNANDA SILVERIO
Nice to meet everyone! Glad to be part of this site :)
Hi everybody! My name is Fernanda, I’m from Brazil, and I teach grades 3 and 4. Teaching English has always been one of my greatest passions, and being part of a bilingual education program makes this journey even more meaningful. Every day in the classroom feels like an opportunity to build bridges between languages, cultures, and ways of seeing the world. When my students arrive with their bright smiles and curious questions, I am reminded of how fortunate I am to guide them through the beautiful path of learning a new language.
One of the things I love the most about teaching is watching my students grow—not only academically, but also emotionally and socially. Learning English is much more than memorizing vocabulary or grammar rules. It is about discovering new ways to communicate, express ideas, and understand the world. I truly enjoy observing how their confidence develops as they begin to recognize their own ability to speak, read, and understand English. Each small improvement, from correctly pronouncing a new word to building full sentences, feels like a celebration for both them and me.
Working in bilingual education allows my students to explore the richness of two languages at once. I believe this experience expands their minds and helps them become more open-minded, creative, and empathetic. When children grow up hearing and using more than one language, they naturally learn to appreciate diversity and to value different perspectives. It gives them tools that will stay with them for life, no matter which path they choose in the future.
I am deeply committed to creating a classroom environment where my students feel safe, supported, and encouraged to take risks. Learning a second language can sometimes feel intimidating, especially for young children, so my goal is to make every lesson enjoyable, meaningful, and connected to their daily lives. I use games, stories, songs, projects, and conversations to turn English into something real and exciting. Seeing the sparkle in their eyes when they understand something new is one of the greatest rewards of my job.
My heart feels full every time I witness their progress. Some students start the year shy and unsure, but little by little, they begin to participate more, ask questions in English, and express their thoughts with growing independence. These moments remind me why I chose this career and why I continue to teach with so much love. Education is powerful, and being part of a child’s learning journey is an honor that I cherish every day.
Teaching English is not just my profession—it is a part of who I am. I am grateful for every lesson, every smile, and every challenge that helps me grow alongside my students. Watching them learn and shine inspires me to be the best teacher I can be.
