Polar bear to go along with the story
We read the story and stopped at each thing the polar bear saw. We talked about it and then I had each child describe what the polar could have seen instead for each one. The children drew what he saw and what he could have seen. It was a shared writing activity. The children enjoyed it so much that we are doing this every week in our room. I hand drew the polar bear and then i drew a flamingo, a zebra and a hippo for some more shared writing activities. I love shared writing activities and thought drawing a picture from a book would be a cute way to introduce the children to the idea of shared writing. It makes the story interactive like they can touch the story. It is getting the children excited to hear a story in a really cool way and they get to participate in the story telling. This a unique way I think to do literacy and language.
