The benefits of a small garden
Some good reasons to have a small garden at your school or preschool include but are not limited to:
*It gets kids outside and enjoying being out of the classroom. They get to learn about how plants grow and the correct way to care for them in a hands-on manner!
*Children can be taught about healthy eating, discussing the importance of eating plenty of the fruits and vegetables that are being grown as opposed to artificial and unhealthy junk food.
*Kids learn about how important our environment is and why we should take care of our planet--if we don't take care of the Earth, how can we expect to be able to grown fruits and vegetables from it?
*Social and collaborative skills are developed. Children understand they need to be sure to take turns watering and caring for plants because if someone forgets to help the plants they could stop growing or die.
